Community

Community has been on my mind quite a bit lately. Community is important for healthy societies, for healthy families, and for healthy individuals.

Today, since it’s a beautiful day in Wheaton, I decided I needed another cup of coffee – so I walked across the railroad tracks to my favorite coffee shop. On the way over I noticed a woman with a small child; letting the child touch the water inside a fountain. Both were smiling and having a good time together. I walked inside to get my coffee and, on the way in, noticed two men at a table outside drinking coffee and talking. I saw a man and a woman inside, reviewing and discussing something on a computer. I saw community all around. I saw people talking, working, helping one another. Today is a good day!

I want to encourage everyone to engage with someone else. Help someone. Read to someone. Listen to someone. Learn from someone. Do something kind for someone.

What we have, what we know, what we’re good at, isn’t meant to be kept to ourselves. It’s meant to be shared!

Hebrews 10:24-25

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,  not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
